I am 23 years old. I was diagnosed when I was 22. Its been ten months and ever since I have talked to 5 guys and all 5 rejected me. I am starting to give up on dating because I am so tired of crying over and over again after each rejection. Close friends and family that know always say don't say anything. Lie. But I would never lie to anybody about something as serious as that. I know its the most commond STD but it's still surreal that I have contracted it. I was with my second guy and got it. I know girls my age that constantly have sex with many men and have nothing. It's not fair. I do cry and get upset on my own but I did look into them dating sites because I know it would be easier for me but I shouldn't have to. I have a bunch of girls that must of found out through the guy and I've been harassed about it. People snicker and talk about me. I try and stay strong but sometimes I just can't be. First of all people hear the word and run and they have no idea what they are talking about. I will find somebody one day but right now its just been repeated rejections. But you have a great blog and I am glad I read it :)

Bee, I know exactly how you are feeling. It makes me tear up reading that, because I remember feeling that way. It does get better. I had my first outbreak just less than a year ago. I was of course absolutely devasted and sadly felt like there was no point to life anymore. I thought and still have my moments to this day of struggling with the injustice of it all...it seemed so unfair because I have been so good my whole life and have always been responsible. The problem is that a lot of people who have it have no idea and can pass it to you without even realizing and you may have an outbreak while it remains dormant in them. This is what happened to me. I tried living with it for a while without medication to see how often the outbreaks would occur, but I decided ultimately to take Valtrex. Now, I have no outbreaks at all. I have come to terms now with having it and for the most part it doesn't feel like a big deal, but I don't want to live off a pill my whole life and I am determined to find a way to free myself from this virus. Even if I can ease of the pill slowly and make changes along the way. I found something that seems quite promising for anyone who's interested. The idea is that by detoxifying your body and by following a very strict health diet and taking certain supplements (for a period of time until the virus dies) you can starve the virus of what it needs to survive. http://www.theundergroundcure.com/products.html. Also, I am currently looking into Oxygen Therapy, where you infuse your body with oxygen which many viruses can't live in the prescence of. It's unfortunate that it can be harder to feel pure, innocent, clean, beautiful, sexy, and free when you have this condition. My boyfriend will even say things about it that make me feel like an outsider without realizing it sometimes. Like I'm the one with the "condition" or "problem" and he was the one who gave it to me, he just doesn't have outbreaks! It's such a shame what a joke it is to the public too when so many people have it! Anyways, I needed to talk about this and I'm happy there are places like this to do it:)

I've had herpes for 2 years now and over that 2 years i have tried several things. Sometimes it takes 10 days for the sores to heal. I found hsv-zero , with it can be reduced to 3 days or sometimes less. It can shorten outbreaks and make them less severe or stop them from happening. The product has lemon balm as their main ingredient.

Cathryn, I feel for your situation and the cruel way in which you have been treat by someone you obviously care about. Your life will never be the same but that's not a bad thing. Let me explain, I contracted herpes when I was in my 20's, I am 48 now and have lived through the rejection and discomfort that herpes 'can' bring, but so can many other things in life. I learned to see herpes as a gift and have now been symptom free for many years by adopting a respectful attitude to my mental and physical well being. I remember telling my now life partner that I had herpes on our 3rd date. She sat in the car and listened to me and said little. I thought that it would be best if I leave her to think awhile and left it to her to text me back. i didn't want to seem needy and I didn't want sympathy, just to be heard. The next day she text me and said she wanted to meet up that night. When I saw her she was smiling and said that she thought I was the bravest, sexiest man she had ever met and that I obviously had very strong values. We are now planning our life together and enjoy a healthy physical relationship based on trust and respect. It took me a long time to drop my feelings of anger towards the person that infected me and yet now I accept that it was part of life's journey and lessons which brought me to a happy place, filled with joy and content and love. It is so easy to judge things as bad and understandable but try giving yourself some distance from judging it that way and see how others can and will accept you for who you are.
I was diagnosed with HSV 2 a year now and I had one outbreak and ever since I have been fine. I have tried a few things, first I changed my diet and that helped big time, I lost 15lbs, and I feel great. At first I use to cry and beat up myself so badly, I honestly thought my inside was poison and I thought I was going to die...I cried, and cried, and prayed so much I spoke to one girlfriend and up to this day she's the only person that knows I have the virus...I use to feel so dirty and very nasty but I'm okay with myself now. I did research online for a lot of different types of Natural Herbs and I came across Natra Burst and I have been drinking it everyday twice a day for over a year. This product has really improved my health. I was diagnosed with multiple issues, starting with bad thyroids, ovarian cysts, and fibroids in addition to the monthly problem of very heavy menstrual flow, bad clots and terrible cramps. As you can imagine I was given so many different types of medication for each condition. A friend recommended Natra Burst so I did my research on the product and its’ benefits and started drinking it. I must say at first I was very skeptical about the product, I asked myself is it a good health drink? not so sure if it would assist me. What I have found out is, it has relieved me of all the medical problems I had, I feel great and is no longer on the prescribed medications. This product also helps with Diabetics, High Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Digestive problems, Cholesterol, Constipation and much more. It is an all natural healthy product. A lot of the ingredients in this product is very good for anyone that has the Herpes virus.
A few co-workers have been observing me when I first started drinking Natra Burst and they knew of my medical problems and how annoying I would get at times. They also knew when I started drinking Natra Burst and now, they have all placed orders for Natra Burst and four of them also signed up to start selling it as they have witnessed the benefits it brought me and I even showed them the results from my doctor, I no longer have thyroids, fibroids, and all other health issues I was dealing with are gone. I haven't had any outbreaks since!!
Please take me serious about this product. I would greatly appreciate it if you went to the website, look up the product and tell me what you think.

This preliminary research suggests that pomegranate juice may be helpful in preventing heart disease, heart attacks and stroke.

Cauliflower – Cruciferous vegetables, including the cauliflower, are known for their cancer fighting benefits. A rich source of vitamin C and other antioxidants.

Spinach –The vitamins in spinach, plus the fiber, folic acid, magnesium, lutein and other nutrients may help control cancer, especially colon, lung and breast cancers. Folate also lowers the blood levels of homocysteine, a protein that damages arteries. The flavonoids in spinach help protect against age related memory loss. Spinach also contains ‘lutein,’ which makes it one of the best foods in the world to prevent cataracts, as well as age related macular degeneration, the leading cause of preventable blindness in the elderly.

Beet – contains high levels of anti-carcinogens and carotenoids. Beets are also loaded with antioxidants, which help protect against cancer and heart disease. Supports healthy liver function and can help keep arteries flexible.

Aloe Vera – the virtues of Aloe Vera have been recorded by various civilizations for thousands of years. In recent history, numerous scientific studies have also concluded that high quality Aloe Vera used internally or topically can have astounding health benefits, ranging from strengthening the immune system, accelerating healing, improving digestive problems, etc. Aloe Vera truly is ‘THE MIRACLE PLANT!’ Its uses and benefits are so wide ranging, new applications for this incredible herb are being consistently discovered!

Turmeric – one of nature’s most powerful healers. It has been used in Indian medicine for more than 2,000 years. It has been long known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a powerful antioxidant.

Cilantro – an antioxidant and detoxifier. Cilantro is known to be rich in phytonutrients, flavonoids and active phenolic acid compounds, which are all very good for supporting optimum health.

Mangosteen – a fruit originally used in Southeast Asia for its health benefits. Mangosteen is high in antioxidants and may have health benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiseptic properties.

Acerola Berry – can help strengthen the immune system, speed up the healing of wounds, prevent heart disease, and even protect your body against cancer. Acerola is very rich in vitamin C, which is one reason why it is so powerful in strengthening the immune system and fighting off diseases like heart disease and cancer.

Red Beet Root – the red pigment in beets raises antioxidant enzyme levels in the liver and may promote detoxification in the intestines, blood and liver. Colon cancer research has also shown that consumption of beet fiber may increase colonic CD8 cells, which detect and remove abnormal cells.

Pomegranate – has excellent antioxidant qualities. Pomegranate juice has been shown to work well as a blood thinner. Some research has shown it may be an excellent agent for promoting blood flow to the heart. It also has been shown to reduce plaque in the arteries, and to raise “good” levels of cholesterol while helping lower “bad” cholesterol. This preliminary research suggests that pomegranate juice may be helpful in preventing heart disease, heart attacks and stroke.

Green Tea Extract – contains powerful antioxidants (flavonoids) that can help protect heart disease, cancer and stroke. Green Tea has metabolism boosting benefits and increases the metabolic rates, reduces hunger and speeds up fat oxidation.

Quercitin – a naturally occurring substance known as bioflavonoid that is found in high concentrations in the skin of apples, red onions, citrus fruits and red grapes. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.Quercetin benefits may also include the reduction of anxiety, depression and even fatigue.

Resveratrol – the most and popular sources of resveratrol are in red wine and grapes. Some have dubbed resveratrol the “Fountain of Youth” because of its reported anti-aging properties. It is an anti-inflammatory and can also increase energy levels and lower blood sugar.

Grape Seed Extract – is thought to be one of the most powerful antioxidants, considered to be more than 20 times more powerful than vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than vitamin E.

Blueberry – another very powerful antioxidant, thought to improve immunity, promote urinary tract health, brain health and may even help reduce ‘belly fat.’

Tomato/Lycopene – tomato products are the richest sources of lycopene. As a powerful antioxidant, lycopene helps neutralize harmful free radicals, which may be responsible for many illnesses, including cancer, heart disease and other age related illnesses.

Rich in fiber which provides a feeling of fullness and contributes to digestive health.

Flax
Brown Rice Bran

I`ve just found this site and it`s really inspiring! My longterm partner knowingly infected me with HSV2 - He had no outbreaks untill 2 yrs into the relationship. I have faced rejection, even though I do the decent thing and tell a guy soon - rather than us both get dissapointed. I find it very difficult to pluck up the courage to tell them because I have been really low, mentally, about this, but what else am I supposed to do? I can`t not tell them, that would make me as evil as my ex. And I know I`m doing the right thing.
I look forward to reading more on here, as it gives me hope, though I have to say, I agree in a BIG WAY about how I shouldn`t feel that the guy is making a sarifice by being with me, ( I have felt like this in the past and felt almost greatful that I`d got someone) And I`ve now come to convince myself that there are worse things to have and more importantly, as common as this is, if the guy is a decent, worthy person, he`ll still want `me for me`.

Hi Nanci, I was hoping you might be able to give some advice on a major problem I've been having. Im a 24 year old woman who contracted genital herpes from my ex boyfriend a few years ago... he cheated on me, and that's how I contracted it...He claimed to have gone and gotten tested as I just had, with the understanding that I needed to know we were both for sure clean before we stopped using condoms. he was the second person in my life other than one other serious boyfriend with whom I did not use a condom. Emotionally it has been very difficult to deal with, one because of the way it happened (I feel so stupid and can't stop feeling regret for trusting this guy and not continuing to use a condom), and two because I now have an amazing boyfriend who am in in love with, we have been together for almost 3 years and are very serious. Though he was very understanding and accepting when I told him I had herpes, every once in a while it causes a rift between us.... it seems like if we go through a rough patch he worries a lot more about getting herpes than usual and it makes our sex life very tense. over the last couple of months, I have gone from going over a year with no outbreaks, to an outbreak once maybe every 6 months, to having one every month. It has gotten to the point where there isnt one day in a month where I am not either on my period or having an outbreak.... as you can imagine, our sex life has become practically nothing, leading to us feeling more distant, and of course causing a lot of tension and fighting. I am emotionally a bit of a wreck from being sick constantly, and it is a lot for him to deal with as well. I am at my wit's end and will take any advice you have on ways to prevent outbreaks or clear symptoms quicker. I was initially taking one valtrex a day to prevent outbreaks and my risk of passing herpes on to my boyfriend.. it worked great for about two years and then for the last few months I have been having outbreaks constantly! I went to my doctor and she switched me to famvir (twice a day) and gave me zovirax (cream). I have been using these for the last month and a bit and literally have been having a constant outbreak since before christmas to now.... I can't live like this! my relationship and emotional health is suffering... please offer any help you can think of.

Thanks. I have lived with herpes for at least 30 years. My ex. I just got married to a wonderful man at 66. It has been exciting and at times challenging and we love sex. However I have had a low profile herpes outbreak (no open sores, just red with slight bumps) for 3 months now. It started with an irritation and then just a sore and crazy agitation like herpes can be. Despite taking Valtrex (which I had stopped taking daily (500mg) about 2 weeks before the "outbreak") I have not been able to get back to normal and the doctors I have seen so far have not helped. I am not having sex with my husband for obvious reasons and we are both frustrated. Any suggestions?
