Is There A Cure For Herpes?

How To Treat And Cure Herpes

Is There A Cure For Herpes I don’t want to mislead you with the above statement because you already know there is no cure for herpes.  Keep reading.  If and when there is a cure for herpes (and I do believe we will see a vaccine in our lifetime, both for those without genital herpes and those of us who have already contracted the condition), it will be on the front page of the paper.

You won’t find it in a Google ad on the side of a website, and you won’t find it on the Internet for $79.99.  Keep reading.   I promise you, it’s not all bad news.

Is There A Cure For Herpes Outbreaks?

While you cannot cure the virus at this point in time, I do believe that with the right treatment, you can live outbreak free.  This does NOT mean the virus is eradicated from your body or that you are not free from spreading herpes.   However, living with HSV2 successfully means no herpes outbreaks and very little risk of herpes transmission.

This is great news.  Those of you that read this blog know that I have had HSV2 for over 20 years and that sometimes (but not often) I do have the occasional outbreak, but that for periods of my life I have gone months, if not years, without a single herpes outbreak.  How do I do this?  With the correct treatment.

How To Treat Herpes:

There are so many excellent available treatments that I cannot possible list them all here.   What I will say is that you have to try.  You can take Valtrex for awhile and this will drastically reduce or eliminate your outbreaks but you should work toward finding a permanent natural solution to treat your vaginal herpes.   There are vitamins, minerals, amino acids (lysine!), acupuncture, visualization, meditation, exercise, diet (no chocolate!), adequate sleep, and the list goes on.  The reason I don’t want to delve into everything here is because it can seem far too overwhelming and then it’s hard to start even one thing.  So let’s do that now.

The point of this post is to have you STOP searching for a is there a herpes cure on the Internet and wasting all your money on speculative and manipulative products (not to mention all those bloody shipping costs) and take your treatment for herpes into your own hands.  There are so many links in this post because they all lead to posts or Internet sites that detail specific treatments and how and why they work.  Deep down I am sure you have some knowledge as to what is triggering your HSV2 outbreaks.   It could be too much alcohol, smoking, not enough sleep.  Basically you are compromising your body so that it can not properly keep the virus dormant in your body.

If this is your first outbreak and you are searching the Internet madly for a cure, don’t be afraid.   You are not alone, and your life as you know it is not over.  Also, if this is your first herpes outbreak and you are terrified of having chronic herpes outbreaks, that is rarely the case.  Outbreaks can come and go, and with a few small steps, you can learn to manage it so that it becomes just a small irritant in your otherwise awesome, successful and sexy life!  All true.

So promise me and you that starting when you can (and be gentle with yourself), you will start to do just one thing you find on this blog.  Whether it’s buying a bottle of Oil Of Oregano (mix it with juice, it’s not so gross), or taking a Vitamin C supplement w/zinc each day, or taking 1000mg of lysine when you remember, just do it.   You won’t regret it.

Be kind to yourself and be well.

I am hopeful today because for the first time in months I have no more itching. I asked a friend who does laser hair removal to treat the are (genital and anal). It was not too painful–I was surprised it was actually bearable. It has been almost 24 hours and my lesions are at least 80 percent reduced and zero itching! I realize it is early to tell if this will be a long lasting result or not but it does offer hope for a cure. It should be researched and tested.

I have been suffering with genital herpes since mid December 2009. I never got complete relief of symptoms since; only increasing or diminishing of symptoms. I tried antiviral medication for three days and only got moderate improvement of symptoms. I saw a youtube video of successful treatment of oral herpes.

Hello! Well today is May 29 and the areas treated by laser in March have had no recurrent outbreaks. I had my second laser treatment last weekend to reach the areas not previously treated: 2 outbreaks on the left lip of my vulva and one on the right lip (she also went all over the vulva and anal area to to be thorough). The outbreak on the left side that had never cleared since my diagnosis in December, not even with anti-viral medication, for the first time it is GONE! I did not take any medication since late February. I did not modify my diet. I continue to eat foods that should be avoided with herpes: nuts and soy daily and papaya and oatmeal on a regular basis (high arginine, low lysine). I even had chocolate ice cream last night.

As far as I am concerned, the laser has a quicker success rate in clearing herpes outbreaks than it does for hair removal (the technician did say she increased the intensity of the laser higher than she would for hair removal). It should be studied because without a study showing the result, the medical community will think my results are impossible. They only believe what they read, so even though something has never been researched, it is as if it is impossible to be true in their minds. If we just give up and say it is impossible to cure, then of course we will never find a cure. People said man could never go to the moon either.

  3. Denise,

Thank you for commenting. I am very happy for you that your laser treatment seems to be working for you. I have not done any research into laser treatment and so I am not able to comment on it’s effectiveness from a personal perspective. I assume that for someone with constant herpes outbreaks, it would be worth a try.

I will try to do a bit of research and maybe even try it myself, but for now I am happy to stick with my regiment of lysine and beta glucan (from yeast). This is really working for me.

I would hesitate to call laser treatment a CURE. While I believe the virus is still live in your body, it is perhaps possible that the laser itself is strengthening the outbreak site(s) so that the herpes can no longer break through the skin. This is my opinion, but can still be considered good news if it does indeed work.

    Thanks again for visiting.
