Hi Nanci!
I wrote you again,I did it once before introducing myself, telling my story and thanking you for your blog (what I do again, really) although now I am not able to find that first message…! ;). I have a doubt about the treatment with Beta glucan from yeast. What happens if you also suffer candida? I suppose it wouldn’t be convenient in this case.
I am taking Vitamin C, D, Lysine and Reishi. Could you list your current treatment, please? Thank you for your patience too ;)

I was diagnosed this year..but wouldn’t even know I had it without my blood test…(besides my ob’s on my thumb) I try natural and found product with awesome ingredients ..visit organic health labs.com. Based in Miami I think ? And its called h-control. I love it so far:)

Thanks for your kind comments. I am not sure if the body becomes accustomed to Lysine. The whole point of Lysine is to have a balance of in the body of higher lysine to argenine (which can cause herpes outbreaks). Argenine and lysine occur naturally in food (chocolate, corn – including corn chips and popcorn – peanuts are all high in argenine) so the basic point of lysine supplements is just to cover your bases to make sure you always have more lysine in your system. Beta Glucan is for every day – awesome immune booster. I take 500mg a day of lyinse (so I can have chocolate!), and 2 beta glucan – I take StressMune from SISU. Also 4000iu of Vitamin D – good for lots of stuff. Take care!

I LOVE your blog. It’s full of so much great info and positive vibes! I’ve felt so much better about myself since I started reading it.
I’ve been taking beta glucan for about a month now. I’ve had one outbreak in that time. I’ve been taking lysine off and on for about a year. I read on another site that the body will become too comfortable with lysine if taken everyday and it will begin to quit working. What are your thoughts on that? Do you have any recommendations for taking it daily or only during an outbreak? Is the beta glucan a daily supplement or one that should only be taken during an out break?

Hey Nanci!
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you graciously for recommending this product. I was diagnoses with HSV 1 and 2, and HPV about 6 years ago. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. With all the medication I am on, I never wanted to be in Valtrex because I felt that it was too much for my body to handle. I was getting outbreaks about every couple months or so. I found that once I feel an outbreak coming on, I take the coldmune and it literally stops it from being a full blown OB! I think of this product as my cure for this virus! I guess with all the things I continually struggle with in my life, my immune system seems to just be compromised.
I was wondering Nanci, if you heard of any mood changes before an outbreak comes about? I find that a few days before I even know its coming, I get sad, depressed, and more anxious. I’m sure it has a lot to so with the face that I’m prone to anxiety/depression, but I was hoping you knew more about it..
Thank you again for making my life more bearable these days. As I am writing you, I am experiencing my first OB in over 3 months, and it is almost gone after 4 days :)

PLEASE HELP ME! I know that their is no cure for GH, but I tried to go herbal! I tried Veltrex but where I live you have to make an appointment to see your house doctor. By the time I get a day to see my HD MY OB is already gone, and she makes me feel like I am a nasty person JUST BY THE WAY SHE LOOKS AT ME! I am currently trying herbs because I live on an island where everyone knows everyone, and where people that works at a hospital/pharmacy talks your private life to anyone! I tried Lemon Balm “Melissa” supplements, 500mg L-Lysine, I even bought Eucalyptus oil which smells HORRIBLE and burns, vitamin C 1000mg, but it’s not helping :’-( I had H since the age of 17 by my first boyfriend! He had it but I dont think he knew because he was in shock when I told him! Now I’m 25 and I hate having so much OB back to back! Sometimes I even feel like it’s not worth living! If you know of anything that I can use or take that would help me have less OB PLEASE help!

I know this post is a bit old, but I just found two interesting supplements at Vitamin Shoppe’s website: L-”Lysine With Beta Glucan” and “Beta Glucan Vitamin C”.

The first has 1000mg L-Lysine and 5mg Beta Glucan (from yeast) – 60 caps, 30 days worth – $12.09.

The second has 370mg Vit C and 10mg Beta Glucan (from yeast) – 60 caps, 60 days worth – $13.48.

I think I may try the “Lysine With Beta Glucan” and see how that goes.

Cool. Just make sure that it is beta glucan from YEAST (or at least contains some from yeast). Beta glucan can be derived from oats and barley as well, and it’s the YEAST one that has been tested and proven successful with genital herpes. Thanks for the update!

Hi nanci, I’m not able to find the beta glucan product that you use but vitamin shoppe sells a beta glucan supplement for $7.49. 60 tablets 200mg 3x a day… Very inexpensive!
